From beginner mountain bike skills, to more advanced courses, Dirtschool will assist you in perfecting your riding techniques and becoming more confident on your Mountain Bike!
The foundation to a great mountain biking journey! This skills clinic is for all levels of riders who wish to learn or refresh the CORE FUNDAMENTAL SKILLS of Mountain Biking, it doesn’t matter how long you’ve been riding for or what your previous experience is, newcomer or more advanced. You will master the understanding and use of the fundamental movements on your MTB, giving you a solid foundation, building your confidence and making you comfortable on your bike.
Fundamentals does not mean ‘easy’ or ‘beginner’. Yes these clinics are a great starting place for beginners but they cover critical foundational skills for riders of all levels and experience. Even if you’ve been riding for 0, 5, 10, or 15 years you’ll have a new understanding of body positioning, how to use your brakes for better control, how to achieve maximum traction, staying smooth over roots and rocks and the foundation to progress to more advanced skills. This clinic will give you a completely different outlook on your riding!
Level 2 Clinics are where we progress to the next level of your riding.
The skills we will learn in these clinics builds on the fundamentals you learned in Level 1.
More advanced techniques and obstacles are introduced in a progressive way and are then used to session the more advanced techniques on varying terrain and obstacles on the trails.
Level 2 courses run over various clinics. Some of the clinics you can expect on Level 2 are:
• Rocks and Drops
• Intro to Jumps and Drops
• Switchbacks, Corners, Berms
• Slow Speed Skills
• Climbing and Descending
Our level 3 sessions are mostly out on the trails.
We will focus on steeper, faster and more technical trails with jumps, drops and technical downhill lines and obstacles to negotiate.
We practice single-track trails and how to apply the fundamental principles to obstacles and lines.
We will cover obstacles like a flat corner, berm, drop, rock garden, jumps and off camber.
This is a no-pressure environment and all participants are encouraged to progress at their own speed.
All members should be fit enough to last 2.5 hours on their bikes. We will mostly ride distances from 10-35km, but there could be days that we call a ride that requires us to go a bit further.
